TheOak Room

An evening worth remembering.

Contemporary dining · Navan, Co. Meath

“Good food. Good company. An evening to remember.”

We write one menu at a time and keep it for six weeks — long enough to cook it properly, short enough to follow whatever the growers, fishermen and butchers around Meath are doing well that month.

Irish produce, French technique, and nothing on the plate that isn't earning its place. The room seats thirty-four. We'd rather serve fewer people well than more people quickly.

Our story

A linen merchant's house, thirty-four chairs.

The Oak Room opened in 2016 in the front rooms of a linen merchant's house on Watergate Street. The panelling, the fireplaces and most of the floorboards were already here — we added candles, thirty-four chairs, and a kitchen that could keep up with them.

Daniel Byrne cooks here six nights a week. He trained in Lyon and came home to Meath in 2015, and the menu still shows both, though the produce is almost entirely Irish and most of it close enough to collect by van.

We take one booking per table per evening. Nobody is asked to leave, and the last table usually goes long.
